Teen Heart Screening Hosts 115 Youth

Thanks to support from St. John’s Health Foundation, the inaugural Teen Heart Screening took place at St. John’s Medical Center on Saturday, October 8th. With help from the Championship Hearts Foundation, the team screened 115 youth athletes for HCM and other, often hidden, heart issues.

Funding came through the St. John’s Cardiology Fund which was established to provide support for heart healthy efforts at St. John’s Medical Center. Since its inception, the fund has raised private philanthropy to pay for screenings like the Teen Heart Screening, training for staff, and equipment like portable defibrillators. The fund receives significant donations every year from Shirley’s Heart Run.
