Public invited to view new system for electronic health records
Updates
St. John’s Health invites the public to an interactive preview of its new electronic health record, the Cerner Millennium® CommunityWorks EHR, on Wednesday, August 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at SpringHill Suites in Jackson.
“We are excited to share this new technology with the community, and we encourage people to come and explore the different features of the new electronic health record,” said Lance Spranger, St. John’s chief information officer. “From a customer perspective, one of the most noticeable improvements is the single patient portal, allowing patients to access information from visits to both the hospital and our physician offices.”
During this hands-on showcase, attendees can use a giant iPad to explore the features of the patient portal, watch a brief video that provides an overview of the fully integrated electronic health record, and visit with St. John’s information technology (IT) professionals and representatives from Cerner’s implementation team. Attendees will also be able to learn more about St. John’s new robotic joint replacement system. St. John’s CEO Paul Beaupré will make remarks at 5:30 pm.
The event includes giveaways to attendees and free prizes every half hour, including a GoPro, Amazon gift cards, headphones, and Fitbits. St. John’s Choices Café is providing refreshments, and a no-host bar will be available.
The new EHR system, which will go live in October, provides an integrated digital record of a patient’s health history. Through the patient portal, patients will be able to send secure messages to their physicians, schedule appointments, access their health history, and pay bills.
SpringHill Suites by Marriott is located at 150 W. Simpson Ave in Jackson.
