2019 marks the 20th Anniversary of St. John’s Health Foundation. In 1999 long-time Jackson community members Addie Donnan, James Eden, David Stokes, John Valiante, Shirley Cheramy, and Gloria Newton started the Foundation to increase awareness and financial support for St. John’s Health. Since the beginning, the Foundation has focused on educating the public and cultivating private philanthropy in support of St. John’s Health.
In this anniversary year, we’re reflecting on the impact that our donors and supporters have made on our community hospital. The generosity of this community makes a huge difference in our small town.
Many essential pieces of medical equipment that the care teams at St. John’s use day in and day out were made possible with philanthropic contributions.
From the Stereotactic Breast Biopsy System purchased for the hospital in 1999 to the 3D Mammography equipment that was funded in partnership with St. John’s Auxiliary and the Teton Pines Women’s Golf Association in 2016, the hospital is able to provide better care to our friends and neighbors as a result of the generosity in this community.
In the next 20 years, we will continue to build relationships and partnerships in the community. We are pleased to announce the launch of a new advisory committee called Pulse. Pulse is comprised of 20 up-and-coming community leaders with a wide range of talents and skill sets. We are thrilled to have the support of an engaged group who will volunteer at fundraising events, serve as advocates for our community hospital, and advise on Foundation happenings.

- Advice, support, and philanthropic contributions from Founding Trustees, including Addie Donnan, Jim Eden, John Valiante, Shirley Cheramy, and Gloria Newton. Sadly Founding Trustee David Stokes passed away in 2017.
- Hospice gifts in memory of beloved community members
- Donations to assist community members who cannot afford their health care
- Community partnerships with local organizations, including the schools, arts non-profits, counseling services, and many more.
- Seeking ways to have an impact on the greatest number of patients by acquiring innovative medical equipment such as 3D mammography, IV pumps, chemistry analyzer, and the Mako robot.
- Working closely with key community organizers to host successful fundraising events such as Run and Ride for the Cure, Shirley’s Heart Run, Rock the Ride, and the Steve Winograd Memorial Diabetes Tennis Tournament.
- Rick Stuck, who has been the Foundation’s accountant for 20 years!
