“ It was truly comforting, wonderful care, and I can’t recommend the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility at St. John’s Health enough for those who need it. It’s beyond helpful to not have to go all the way to Salt Lake City.”

At the age of 83, Margie Reimers fell while crossing a bridge on a trail in the Tetons. Her subsequent leg injury required surgical intervention, but thanks to St. John’s Health, both her surgery and recovery took place in her hometown. Margie credits her extended care at the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility of St. John’s Health for supporting her as she regained her strength and began her healing journey. As a former nurse herself, she knows a thing or two about quality care.

“It is a marvelous place we have here,” she says. “I had to learn to walk with a walker and then crutches. The incredible staff helped both me and my husband in getting me strong enough to go home.” In addition to 24-hour nursing care and pain management, Margie received physical therapy and occupational therapy, allowing her to have increased skills and confidence as she moved back into her everyday life. This reduced her stress significantly, she recalls, as well as her husband’s.

“Having exceptional care right here in Jackson Hole is so important. Having a familiar setting and visitors goes a long way; seeing friends and family is so encouraging, and keeps your spirits up.” The combination of emotional support and inpatient physical rehabilitation had her back to functional more quickly than she had even dared to imagine. “It was a smooth transition back into life,” she says.

“It was truly comforting, wonderful care, and I can’t recommend the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility at St. John’s Health enough for those who need it. It’s beyond helpful to not have to go all the way to Salt Lake City,” she concludes. Margie is deeply thankful for the myriad ways that St. John's Health Foundation supports St. John’s Health, from state of the art facilities to compassionate and highly trained staff, to developing innovative ways to serve the needs of the surrounding community.
