Our volunteers and volunteens contribute valuable services and spend quality
time with patients, residents, and families. By simply talking or being
near a patient, volunteers act as a “healing presence” that
provide support and hope during troubled times.
There are many different and wonderful ways to volunteer at St. John’s
Health. Please contact the Volunteer Office for specifics.
The “Volunteens” program is open to students age 14 to 17.
Participants serve in many areas of the hospital and provide comfort to
patients. Volunteers will be thoroughly educated on proper hospital etiquette.
This is a great program for teens who have an interest in the medical
field or who just want to help their community. Please fill out the
Volunteens application form if interested.
How to Apply
We greatly appreciate your interest in volunteering. To ensure our patients
receive the highest quality care and that our contributors are committed
to their role, we ask that prospective volunteers undergo a simple screening process.
Prospective Volunteers Must:
Commit to serving at least 40 hours in a full calendar year
Complete an application (see below)
Have a personal interview with relevant staff
Complete an online background check
Provide proof of vaccination or immunity for MMR, Varicella and Tdap
Provide proof of vaccination for Hepatitis B or sign declination form
Provide proof of vaccination for the annual flu shot and for COVID including
all required boosters
Undergo lab work, including drug testing and TB test
